You will also find The Panhandle trail head, which eventually connects to a trail that will take you all the way to Washington D.C. it is part of rails to trails which prior to using these routes as trails for walkers/runners/bikers were railroads.
In a nearby town, Hookstown, PA, you will find Racoon Creek State Park. Many locals visit here because it is only about 14 miles away. You can hike, explore the mineral springs, fish, camp, hunt, or meander through the wildflower reserve.

People who reside in Weirton have the best of both worlds, a smaller town, but near a major city. This makes it easy to visit Pittsburgh on a day trip and come back the same evening if you’d like.
If you would like to travel, Weirton is also conveniently near the Pittsburgh International Airport. It is only about 24 miles away. Having an airport nearby comes in handy for early morning flights or for simply the benefit of being near an airport.
Having the convenience of Pittsburgh close by is definitely an asset if you’d like to experience concerts, amusement parks, museums, restaurants, and shopping. If a bigger city isn’t for you, but want access to what a bigger city provides, then Weirton would be a fantastic place to reside.
